    May 5th to May 9 at Meister and Evans Elementary Schools
     If you live east of Michigan St., register your child(ren) at Meister Elementary
     If you live west of Michigan St., register your child(ren) at Evans Elementary
     Children 5 years old before August 1st can register 8:30-11:00 & 1:00-3:00
     Bring proof of residency  
    4 pieces of identification required
     Valid Birth certificate
     Immunization records
    School Physical
     Fee due at time of registration $100.00
     Parents can sign up at that time for a required June screening date

     Call the Meister school office for questions at 219-962-1103

    A public service announcement
    The documentary, "Rise Above the Mark," will be shown on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at Chesterton High School at 5:30 P.M. and Hobart High School at 7:00 P.M. The purpose of this film is to educate the general public about the "corporate takeover" of the Indiana public school system. The film also notes the action that parents, community members, and educators can take to protect their local public schools from being put into an "ever-shrinking box". River Forest Community Schools is now accepting applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

No Child Left Behind/Notice toParents Professional Qualifications of Teachers

As a parent/guardian of a student in the River Forest Community School Corporation, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child's classroom teachers, and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child's classroom teachers:

· Whether the Indiana Department of Education has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.

· Whether the Indiana Department of Education has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.

· The teacher's college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subjects of the degrees.

· Whether any teachers' aides or similar paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
