Meister's Field Day was rescheduled to Tuesday, June 1st due to the rain this week. We will be having a COVID-safe Field Day where grade levels will go outside and rotate through 8 different events. Please send your child(ren) dressed appropriately for playing outdoors and running (gym shoes). We will keep classes separated, practice social distancing, and the Meister PTO is providing water and popsicles for each child. *Due to COVID guidelines, this will not be an open event as in past years, but we want to have some "normal" fun activities for the students at the end of the year. A letter from Mrs. Pante, our P.E. teacher is attached with more information.

St. Joseph's Carmelite Home in East Chicago experienced a fire this past Sunday and they need our help. They are a local resource that offers emergency shelter care, support for teen mothers and infant care, as well as residential care for children. If you are interested in helping out, you can drop off items listed in the attached image to any vestibule at a RF school. Let's come together as a community to help out!

Just a quick update about the Fire Drill on Friday.  A staff member was with a primary class on Friday during a planned fire drill at 2:30pm.  While exiting the building the staff member fell and had an injury. Our staff was quick to respond and call 911 and one of our School Resource Officers was onsite and ambulances arrived quickly. The drill lasted about 1minute and 30 seconds then we quickly returned to classes and our staff member was transported to St. Mary's in Hobart.  Mr. Worthington went along with her in the ambulance and she was treated and released later that evening and is home and resting.  A BIG "Thanks" to our staff for acting quickly and our students for following directions during a drill and medical emergency, and our parents who were patient in the pick-up line.  Thank you for your concerns and well wishes to our staff member.

Here's a great article about our recycling program at Meister. Mrs. Hecht sponsored this program this year and nominated our 3 janitors who help with our recycling program. They won 4th place based on an essay submitted by Mrs. Hecht! Thanks you Miss Dorris, Miss Donna, and Miss Evelyn!

The required State ILEARN Test Window opens next Monday, April 19th, for students in 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade.  Virtual students learning from home must come to school on the days their grade takes the test so it can be given by a certified and licensed teacher.  Please note the Calendar I have emailed you includes a group of days for each grade.  Students can ride the bus or be dropped off at Door F behind the gym  These tests will take about 5-6 days, but we have included plenty of breaks and space for them.  The Testing Calendar below is included in English and Spanish.  3rd grade will be the first to begin testing next Monday, April 19th.  We will be trying to test one grade at a time.  These ILEARN Testing Calendars were emailed to current virtual families in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades and can be found on our school website and Facebook page.
