Meister Elementary School
WEBSTORE IS NOW OPEN!

The Coats for Kids and Families Organization will be having our annual giveaway Saturday, November 6th from 9am-12pm. Our organization gives away winter coats to those of all ages in need. The giveaway will be held at the River Forest High School Cafeteria. Masks will be required to enter and must continue to be worn until you exit the building. This is an annual event and we are extremely lucky to continue during these unprecedented times. If numbers are large you may need to wait outside until numbers permit you to enter. All those in your party in need of a coat should be present to make sure you are able to get a coat that fits.

Hello Ingots! The Coats for Kids and Families Organization are collecting new and gently used clean WINTER coats. Winter is cold and our hope is to make sure that all students and adults have a winter coat to help them stay warm throughout all the cold weather. Please help us meet our community's needs and donate a winter coat. Coat collection will go until October 29th. Coats can be dropped off at one of the elementary schools and/or Middle/High School. Thank you for your help.

Meister's Field Day was rescheduled to Tuesday, June 1st due to the rain this week. We will be having a COVID-safe Field Day where grade levels will go outside and rotate through 8 different events. Please send your child(ren) dressed appropriately for playing outdoors and running (gym shoes). We will keep classes separated, practice social distancing, and the Meister PTO is providing water and popsicles for each child. *Due to COVID guidelines, this will not be an open event as in past years, but we want to have some "normal" fun activities for the students at the end of the year.
A letter from Mrs. Pante, our P.E. teacher is attached with more information.

Please see attached letter regarding RF Scholarships

St. Joseph's Carmelite Home in East Chicago experienced a fire this past Sunday and they need our help. They are a local resource that offers emergency shelter care, support for teen mothers and infant care, as well as residential care for children. If you are interested in helping out, you can drop off items listed in the attached image to any vestibule at a RF school. Let's come together as a community to help out!

If you haven't come by for Kindergarten Round-up today (May 4th), we are still open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Students must be 5 by August 1st and you'll need to bring your 4 proofs of residency, birth certificate, Social Security Card, Immunization Records, and a Photo ID for the parent/guardian. Our Round-up is "COVID friendly"! Just pull up to a parking spot with a crate and a # and we will come out to give you information and to take your child inside for a quick screener by our awesome Kindergarten teachers while you fill out some papers for us.

Just a quick update about the Fire Drill on Friday. A staff member was with a primary class on Friday during a planned fire drill at 2:30pm. While exiting the building the staff member fell and had an injury. Our staff was quick to respond and call 911 and one of our School Resource Officers was onsite and ambulances arrived quickly. The drill lasted about 1minute and 30 seconds then we quickly returned to classes and our staff member was transported to St. Mary's in Hobart. Mr. Worthington went along with her in the ambulance and she was treated and released later that evening and is home and resting. A BIG "Thanks" to our staff for acting quickly and our students for following directions during a drill and medical emergency, and our parents who were patient in the pick-up line. Thank you for your concerns and well wishes to our staff member.

This is a reminder for 5th graders that ILEARN Testing begins this Monday, May 3rd. Virtual students in both Ms. Conrad's and Ms. Meyers' classes will be testing and eating breakfast and lunch with Mrs. Woods in the Title I Room and have a separate recess to be sure we are providing a safe environment for them. 5th grade will be testing from Monday, May 3rd until the next Monday on May 10th. Please remember that Tuesday, May 4th is a planned e-Learning day for the entire district, so students will do their work from home that day.
